National Technology Day visit for Students of 10 Schools and Colleges (11th May 2024)
ACS International Student Chapter at CSIR-CSIO in Chandigarh organized a visit for 10 school and college students to celebrate National Technology Day. The event was a collaborative venture with Jigyasa, a program at CSIR-CSIO that promotes scientific knowledge and responsibility in young minds. About 250-300 students attended the event, where we demonstrated various analytical instruments such as FTIR, Electrochemistry, Texture Analyzer, Microscope, UV-Spectrophotometer (Cary 4000, Agilent) and Rheometer (Anton Paar). We explained the basic principles and workings of these instruments and answered questions from the students.
Phenome Indian-CSIR Health Cohort Knowledgebase (20-26th April 2024)
A team of 18 members from CSIR-IGIB organised a sample collection derived under the project HCP0047; the venue for sample collection was CSIO Dispensary. More than 500 participants were registered for this sample collection, including current staff and pensioners of CSIO. During this 6-day sample collection, 27 volunteers of the ACS-CSIO student chapter worked actively and were able to collect samples of 461 participants.
2nd Bilateral Meet on Innovations in Materials for Energy and Environmental Technologies (i-MEET)
The i-MEET was organised in collaboration with INST, Mohali to facilitate the convergence of researchers, scientists, and experts from diverse fields to deliberate on the latest advancements and challenges in the realm of Materials for Energy and Environmental Technologies through lectures and poster presentation competition. The event hosted more than 100 students from various institutions.
Workshop on Instruments for Environment and Food Quality Assurance (29-30th June 2023)
A 2-Day Workshop on Instruments for Environment and Food Quality Assurance was organised at CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh in celebration of "One Week One Lab Program". The event hosted more than 70 students for hands-on trainings of 8 instruments used in environmental and food quality monitoring and expert lectures from esteemed scientists.
Earth Week 2023
The ACS-CSIO International Student Chapter is excited to celebrate Earth Week 2023. For this, the ACS-CSIO Chapter has brought people to academic and daily routine levels together with a multitude of activities like plantation drive, cleaning drive, and interactive sessions with esteemed scientists and young researchers.
National Technology Day (11th May 2022)
To commemorate the anniversary of the 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests, the ACS Student Chapter at CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh, organized a visit of six school/college students in collaboration with Jigyasa to promote scientific temperament in young minds. 250-300 students attended the event.
Hands-on workshop on Analytical Instrumentation
A two two-day hands-on Workshop on Analytical Instrumentation in celebration of the "International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development" was organised on 14th-15th July 2022 at the CSIR-CSIO campus. The event hosted over 60 students who received training on 8 analytical instruments and attended lectures and industry discussions.
Awareness and training on intellectual property (17th March 2023)
As a part of the 75th Anniversary of India's Independence and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign, the office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM) has launched the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM), which aimed to impart awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). For this program, the Office of CGPDTM collaborated with the ACS-CSIO International student chapter to conduct an awareness session on the topic "IPR awareness and basic training program".
National Energy Conservation Day (14th December 2022 )
On the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day, ACS CSIO international student chapter team brought pioneers and early researchers in the field of energy applications together to share their knowledge, perspectives, and experiences. More than 60 viewers attended the online lectures.
National Chemistry Week (NCW) (16-22th October 2022)
NCW-2022 was celebrated by the ACS CSIO International student chapter, where the chapter team organised an outreach activity for school students and demonstrated chemical experiments for them to enhance their scientific curiosity. There were also poster and quiz competitions organised where students participated with full enthusiasm.
Battery Coin Experiment (17th October 2022)
A collaborative event with Jigyasa for primary school students was carried out where students did a battery coin experiment. More than 100 students attended the event, and a special session by the ACS CSIO Chapter was organised to promote research and science among students.
